KIKO Matte Liquid Lipstick Review – FAIL?!

Hello everyone!

So, today I bring you another brilliant and informative review! This time I’m going to review and swatche my three KIKO’s Matte Liquid Lipstick, from their limited collection “Less is Better”.

To celebrate their 20 anniversary, KIKO launched a capsule collection,”Less is Better”, wich the theme was a nude colour pallete, and in this limited edition they launched four shades of matte liquid lipstick!

I bought three of this four colours, because the nº1 seemed to pale for my skin tone, and because I’m obsessed with liquid lipsticks and I couldn’t just buy one of them!

I’m going to show you the colours down below, and at the end of this post, I’m going to share with you my thoughts about the formula, wearability, etc.

So, let’s jump into the good stuff:

SENSITIVE BEIGE (02)

This was the first shade I got, and it was my boyfriend who gave it to me, it was a surprise! It’s a nude beige, and the first time I tried it, I didn’t like it as much, because it seemed too light for my complexion, but it grew on me. The more I tried it, the more I liked it. It’s not one of my everyday choices, but it’s different from what I’m used to, and it’s a good option for when I want to change it up a little bit.

ESSENTIAL ROSE (03)

This shade is a beautifull pale nude pink. Again, at first I thought that maybe it was a little too light for my taste, but it goes a little darker after it dries, and is a very elegante and versatile colour. I like it a lot.

IMPECCABLE ROSEWOOD (04)

This is the darkest shade of this collection, and to me, this is a flat brown. On me is a very goth colour, very dark, and I have to say that when I bought this shade, it was not what I was expecting. I don’t know if you have seen the publicity of the “Less is Better” collection, but I thought this was the colour the model was wearing for the photoshoot, which had a lot of more pinkish mauvey brown. If this was the shade, (because it’s impossible to be one of the others, unless they used a lipstick that is not part of this collection), theres was a lot of photoshopin, lighting, priming, whatever…, in the process. It’s almost greyish. I like it, but definitelly not what I was expecting.

____________________________________________________________________________________________

The colour palette was very nice, I liked all the shades, I mean, NUDE + MATTE + Liquid Lipstick, of course I was all hyped up about this. What else could I want more?!

But the formula was a bit of a disapointment. Is very drying, very very drying! When the lipstick settles, it goes matte as promised, and lasts a fair share, but it cracks up, and as you smile or speak, it crumbles down. I’ll leave some close ups of my lips, and bear in mind, this where taken minutes after the lipstick dried. In some cases you can see already lines and dry patches. Oh, and I did exfoliate and moisturize my lips before this!

It literally falls off your lips sometimes. I can do a test wear if you’ld like, to see how long it lasts and what does it look in the end of its miserable life! What do you think?

In the end, I did love the shades they came up with, they are pretty and everyone likes nudes, but the formula is bad. They look good from affar and in pictures, (when you look closely, it looks like prune lips, all wrinkled up) and they last a fair amount of time, but they feel so drying… More of a miss than a hit.

What about you? Did you tried this ones? Are you going to try them?

Thank you for reading this, and I hope you share your experience!

Xoxo,

Sofia
